Dehing Patkai National Park
Dehing Patkai National Park is a major national park and rainforest area in the Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts of Assam, known for its lush tropical lowland rainforests and rich biodiversity. It was officially designated as a national park in 2021 to strengthen conservation efforts for its unique ecosystem. The park is often called the “Amazon of the East” because it harbours one of the largest stretches of lowland rainforests in India. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife including elephants, tigers, clouded leopards, hoolock gibbons, and the rare white-winged wood duck, along with hundreds of bird, reptile, and butterfly species. Dehing Patkai’s dense forests, rivers, and natural landscapes make it an important destination for nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, and eco-tourism.
