Kadapa Faces Sanitation Challenges; Young Volunteers Lead Cleanup Drive
A growing social concern is drawing attention in Kadapa as residents continue to face challenges related to garbage disposal, drainage overflow, and increasing mosquito menace in several urban localities. Areas near RIMS Road, RTC Bus Stand, Devuni Kadapa, and Old Town have reported frequent drainage blockages, leading to stagnant water and foul smell. Locals say that despite repeated complaints, only temporary cleaning measures are being taken. Garbage bins overflow due to irregular collection, forcing residents to dump waste roadside. This has also raised health concerns, especially with rising dengue and viral fever cases in the region. A group of college students and young volunteers formed a team called “Clean Kadapa Movement”, conducting awareness rallies and street cleaning drives during weekends. They urge people to avoid littering and support recycling habits. Municipal officials responded by saying that additional sanitation workers and new garbage vehicles will be deployed soon. They also announced plans to set up QR-code based complaint tracking, allowing residents to report issues digitally and monitor progress.
