Massive Plantation Drive Launched Across City
Green Drive Transforms Kadapa: City Launches Mega Plantation Program Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh:In a major move toward environmental restoration, Kadapa has launched a city-wide Green Kadapa Plantation Mission, aiming to plant over 1 lakh saplings across urban and rural zones within the next six months. The initiative, jointly organized by the Municipal Corporation, Forest Department, and local NGOs, focuses on improving air quality, groundwater recharge, and urban cooling. Officials announced that native species such as Neem, Peepal, Jammi, Mango, Gulmohar, and Pongamia will be planted along highways, parks, schools, open grounds, and residential layouts. Speaking to the media, officials said the city has experienced a noticeable increase in temperatures and reduction in green cover over recent years. To reverse the trend, the new initiative encourages citizens to adopt saplings, maintain doorstep waste segregation, and reduce plastic usage. Residents, students, and volunteers participated enthusiastically in the first phase of planting near RIMS Road, RTC Bus Stand, Gudur Road, and Devuni Kadapa. Environmental experts predict that the project will help decrease pollution, boost oxygen levels, and nurture urban biodiversity in the region.
