Army Base Attack
Army Base in Tinsukia Attacked, Three Soldiers InjuredIn the early hours of 17 October 2025, an Army base in the Kakopathar area of Tinsukia district was targeted in a militant assault when unidentified assailants fired on the Indian Army’s Kakopathar Company post from a moving vehicle shortly after midnight. The banned insurgent outfit United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) is suspected to have carried out the attack, which involved small arms and possibly grenades. In the exchange of fire, three Army personnel sustained minor injuries and were treated for those wounds. Security forces on duty responded quickly, returning fire and forcing the attackers to flee the scene, and joint search operations with police have been launched to track down the perpetrators. The incident marks a rare but serious strike in a region that has seen reduced militant activity in recent years, raising concerns about renewed insurgent operations near the Assam–Arunachal Pradesh border.
